With recent changes in podcast land seeing a shifting trend to ‘video podcasts’, National Indigenous Television (NITV) have just launched their own - Goodways, which promises to be full of laughs and plenty of banter.

In the series, you’ll hear yarns that range from relationships, identity and childhood, to why crushing on your cousin is a no-go-zone, along with some spooky stories thrown into the mix.

Hosted by NITV’s Jodan Perry (Worimi and Wiradjuri), Jonah Johnson (Wiradjuri), Alexis Moran (Wakka Wakka and Yuin), Jason Haji-Ali (Yawuru) and Bronte Charles (Bundjalung and Mununjali) – the crew bring personal perspectives from around the country.

“Goodways is the feeling of sitting round yarning up with your cousins - a space where we can kick back and talk about all the things that make us Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; our successes, strengths, beauty, all in a relaxed, and cheeky way,” says co-host, Jodan Perry, who is also Head of Digital at NITV.

Perry says with the Referendum happening this year, the team wanted to step away from news-driven, political stories and to use the opportunity “to be their authentic selves, having a laugh and smiling”.

In the first episode, Jonah, Jodan and Lex chat about childhood, school life and university, with episode two diving into relationships, dating and friendships, including how to make sure you’re not related to your crush.

“Goodways is a Murri word and you can use it in a variety of ways: tacked on to the end of something if you're being a bit snarky or to make fun – it’s a light-hearted fun term that mob use,” says producer Monique Horadam.

Check out the first episode above or watch on YouTube.

Goodways is available on the NITV website, NITV YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts.
